This one really gets to me. Not only is the victim, Ruth Dalton, an elderly woman, and her dog was stabbed to death. I could not help but cry and cry. She has not done anything to anyone. All of the memorials about her were so sweet. She had this dog walking business for like 35 years. She also did jobs for cats. She loved animals. She died doing what she loved, but she did not deserve what happened to her. Besides being so very upset, I am so very angry. Anger that I don’t have for too many. I hate crimes against the elderly. It sets me off in a way I can’t explain. I know it comes from my love of my Grammy. She raised me and she is the person I have loved the most in the world. She devoted her life to raising my sister and I and we both love and miss her so much. All of our friends loved her. My best friend at the end of high school became another granddaughter. Grammy loved her so much and wanted her to come over even when I was at work or school. We went to college together for a while, which made her happy, too. We called her every week. Now that she is gone, I wish everyday she was here. If you still have your parents and grandparents, treat them right! Love them and talk to them. You will regret it if you don’t. I miss mine very much, even being the old lady now myself! Every time I see a story about the violence against an elderly person, it really gets me going, and usually makes me cry. I had one here that is one I think of often as she had no family left when it was solved, so I was that granddaughter. I did not want Lela Rockwell to not have anyone. She is another grandma for me! Her killer got LWOP and went to another state to face charges he had there as well.
If you know the name of Ruth’s dog, please let me know. I hate to just refer to him as her dog. He was a living, breathing animal before this happened and she loved him.
